Her eyes burned
Like black coals aflame
Freezing my heart
When they scalded my brain
She stood in her cell
Without resistance
no choice but to accept
the consequences of existence
I watched them torture her
beat her down to the core
her mouth said nothing
which said even more
her expression like a book
telling the story of a friend
a mother and daughter
who's life came to an end
