ARA sentenced to community service in Sussex bear-hunt protest

SUSSEX COUNTY -- An animal-rights activist was sentenced today to perform 10 days of community service for refusing to return to an area designated for protesters during the state’s annual bear hunt last year.

Bill Crain, 69, a psychology professor at City College of New York, received the community service sentence despite Prosecutor William Hinkes' recommendation of a 10-day jail stay because of Cain's previous arrests at bear-hunt protests.
