Vegan menu on tap for astronauts flying NASA's mission to Mars

And celebrities such as Al Sharpton, Bill Clinton and Chaka Khan have
credited a vegan diet for helping them lose dramatic amounts of weight
and become healthier.

scientists are currently working on a vegan menu for the astronauts
who will blast off to Mars on a trip planned for 2030.

The menu, which will feed six to eight astronauts for up to three
years, must not only be healthy and nutritious, but provide enough
variety and flavor to sustain the prolonged space expedition.

"Mars is different just because it's so far away," Maya Cooper, senior
research scientist with Lockheed Martin, told the AP. "We don't have
the option to send a vehicle every six months and send more food as we
do for International Space Station."
