September 29, 2010 (Wednesday) Life in the Lab: the Hidden Truth about Animal Experimentation Michael Budkie of SAEN speaks in Rochester NY: Michael Budkie is Executive Director of SAEN: Stop Animal
Exploitation NOW! Currently on a book tour across the USA, Budkie is selling
his new book, "Tear At the Jacket" ($15). This explosive expose' blows lab
doors wide open by revealing the horrors of daily lives of primates in
laboratories across the USA. SAEN was founded in 1996, to force an end to the abuse of animals in
laboratories. Rats and mice are believed to comprise over 90% of animals
used in experimentation, yet they are excluded from coverage by the Animal
Welfare Act. Therefore the majority of animals used at research facilities
are not counted. SAEN investigations reveal abuses within laboratories
nationwide. Their first major event was a news conference that revealed the
suffering endured by dogs, rabbits, and primates in 9 (nine) laboratories
across the USA. In 2002, SAEN filed a milestone complaint with the USDA
revealing that Harvard and Yale had lied to the USDA about the number of
primates experimented on in university laboratories. SAEN ended abusive
experiments on primates in San Diego, CA. SAEN launched a campaign against
Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (currently lists no usage of primates) for
using primates in endotracheal intubation, bringing about congressional
hearings into the use of animals by the military. In Defense of Animals
(IDA) and SAEN brought about two federal hearings on animal experimentation
by the U.S. military. 9/29/10 Budkie talk in Rochester NY - cosponsored by Stop Animal Exploitation NOW!
