Just in case you need a reason to smile on Monday, here's a story that is guaranteed to do the job. A veterinarian technician at the Mercy Animal Clinic in Garland, Texas found a two-day-old kitten and a stray young female pit bull along the side of the road in South Dallas.

The newborn kitten was nursing from the pooch, who seemed to have had no trouble stepping in for the kitten's mother. Sorry to report, but the mother cat was nowhere to be found; the kitten may have been mistakenly left behind by its mom.

On Mercy Animal Clinic's Facebook the following update appeared:
"The dog is sweet and loves the kitten, but her milk is drying up. We are bottle feeding the kitten today and placing it in a home with a nursing mother cat tonight. Good job Marina!"

On Tuesday morning, the sweet dog will be spayed, and then she will be eligible for adoption. If anyone is interested in helping this hero dog, contact Mercy Animal Clinic.

The kitten is being transferred to New Beginnings Cat Rescue.
Obviously the pittie bonded with the kitten. As Dr. Hamlin scooped up the kitten to take the little guy home to bottle feed for the night, guess what happened?

Mercy Animal Clinic: "I (Dr Hamlin) brought the kitty home to bottle feed tonight; as I left, the pitbull starting howling. I bet she'll be happy to see her tomorrow.

Anybody want to adopt the two together?"

If interested, please contact the clinic on Tuesday morning.
