Amidst dog shootings, Tennessee sheriff refuses to enforce animal cruelty laws
Following the recent shootings of two dogs, animal advocates are asking why Warren County Sheriff Jackie Matheny refuses to investigate the cases or press charges in the one incident where the persons responsible have already been identified.
On Saturday afternoon, a beloved family pet named Jake was killed just feet away from a child's outdoor birthday party. It began when a woman new to the area claimed that Jake had nipped her hand. Neighborhood children say that they later witnessed the same woman and a male accomplice beating the dog with a baseball bat. It is believed that the male then fired 3 shots at Jake, killing him.
