Activists Again Target Mayor of Lloyd Harbor After Deer Killing Resumes
Long Island Massacre Suspended Last Year After Strike by Animal Liberation Front
Lloyd Harbor, NY- The mayor of Lloyd Harbor, NY has again come under attack by animal liberation activists for his support of the annual deer slaughter there.
Last year, the New York State Parks Department suspended the Long Island deer massacre days after the town's mayor, Leland M Hairr of 6 Beech Hilll Rd., Huntington, NY was targeted by the Animal Liberation Front.
The so-called hunt allows hunters to shoot the deer point blank with shotguns, in a misguided attempt to limit the deer population at Caumsett State Park.
Also last year, the nearby Diocese of Rockville Centre suspended the practice at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, when a new rector at the seminary decided to assess the situation after protests from animal rights advocates.
Forty-six deer were to be killed on the properties - a move animal rights activists didn't like. "There's no need to take a life," said Dennis Glassberg, a Dix Hills resident and member of Save Our Animal Friends, a Suffolk County-based animal rights group.
"These animals were put on earth to live their life and they have a right to live their lives."
This year, according to an anonymous communique received by the North American Animal Liberation Press Office, unnamed activists painted "LELAND HAIRR IS A MURDERER." on the office building of EEA Inc.

The painted message also stated activists would return unless Hairr put a stop to the deer kill.
