The Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre has been saved from eviction! Thank you to everyone who took action to save this sanctuary from closing.

Back in October 2012, our friends at Animals’ Asia sent out a call for help. Their Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre, where 104 bears rescued from bear bile farms have finally found sanctuary, faced eviction by the Ministry of Defence because the land that the centre is on, within the Tam Dao National Park, was declared to be of “national defence significance”.

A coalition of animal protection organisations, including ADI, urged the Prime Minister of Vietnam to intervene and overturn the Ministry’s decision, allowing the centre to remain. Read our joint letter to the Prime Minister here.

Our supporters also took action in their thousands, signing a petition and emailing the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

ADI is delighted that the centre will remain within the Tam Dao National Park.
