Members with the Animal Liberation Front or ALF have allegedly claimed responsibility for the attack on McNee's Meats in North Branch, which happened during the early morning hours Monday.

According to investigators, members of the group glued the ignition and door locks of one of the company vehicles. They also spray painted "Meat is Murder" on the front of the building.

Members also freed 15 cows and also destroyed many cages used for holding chickens. Representatives with McNee's Meats declined to comment.

Back in 2011, McNee's Meats was responsible for an E. coli outbreak that sickened at least five people and was linked to four other cases.
