(US/nc) More arrests in animal cruelty case at Butterball facility in Hoke Co.

RAEFORD - Hoke County deputies today arrested three more employees of a Shannon Butterball farm on animal cruelty charges.

The arrests bring to five the number of people charged with abusing turkeys at the farm after an animal rights group secretly recorded birds being thrown, stomped and kicked at the facility.

Ronnie Dlue Jacobs, 57, of the 4400 block of Rockfish Road in Raeford and Billy Thomas McBryde, 52, of West Gate Terrace in Red Springs, are charged with misdemeanor cruelty to animals. Brian Gerrard Douglas, 36, of the 7100 block of Laurinburg Road in Raeford, is charged with felony cruelty to animals.

The arrests came a day after three others who worked at the plant were arrested in the investigation.
