DANIEL
MCGOWAN RELEASED!
"Green Scare" Defendants
The
term "Green Scare," alluding to the Red Scare of the 1940s and
1950s,
refers to legal and extralegal actions taken by the U.S. government
against environmental and animal rights activists. Like the Red Scare,
the Green Scare uses new laws and new arms of the state to harshly
punish a few individuals in order to repress an entire movement.
In
December 2005, government agents carried out a nationwide sweep of
arrests, charging fourteen individuals with actions claimed by the Earth
Liberation Front and/or Animal Liberation Front in the Northwestern U.S.
dating back to the mid-90's. The actions include a 1997 fire that
destroyed a horse slaughterhouse in Oregon (the plant was not rebuilt),
and fires that destroyed pens and chutes at Bureau of Land Management
wild horse holding compounds in Oregon, Wyoming and California (horses
were also freed during the actions). Despite no injury caused to any
living being, a judge determined that some of the arsons constituted
"terrorism" under Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
In
November 2006, Nathan Block, Daniel McGowan, Jonathan Paul and Joyanna
Zacher entered non-cooperation plea agreements in which they accepted
responsibility for their own roles in environmentally-motivated property
crimes, but did not agree to provide information or testify
against anyone now or in the future.
Unfortunately, other individuals admitted guilt after their arrests and
proceeded to provide information to the government. In order to receive
reduced sentences, these individuals agreed to cooperate with the state
in ongoing investigations against the environmental and animal rights
movements. Those individuals are not listed here.

TRAPS DESTROYED
anonymous report:
"During the last 3 weeks teams from ARM have destroyed
53 traps in 5 different locations. And as a parting gift we left a few
of our own. The traps we destroyed, set by cowards who call themselves
sportsman, were not only incredibly cruel they were illegally set.
We have also confirmed multiple reports that several
institutions of 'higher learning' in Vermont have and continue to
torture, abuse and kill animals in the name of the all mighty dollar.
'The sky is now blue.' Be safe.
And for those who disagree with our actions... Well, it
is just the circle of life.... right GMC....

PEN TORN OPEN,
DOZENS OF PHEASANTS RELEASED INTO THE WILD
received anonymously:
"On the night of September 21, 2012, saboteurs tore open
a lone flight pen located at the newly incorporated Primrose Pheasant
Farm (27368 S. Primrose Path Canby, Oregon), releasing dozens of
slaughter-bound ring-necked pheasants into the countryside.
Naturalized populations of ring-necked pheasants have
resided in the Willamette Valley for hundreds of years and the
surrounding farm land serves as ideal habitat that these captive bred
non-domesticated birds can undoubtedly survive in. Destined otherwise to
be killed by butchers and sport hunters, these sentient beings will now
get the chance to live out the rest of their natural lives in the wild.
For the silent ones..

"DROP HLS,"
"PUPPY KILLER" PAINTED AT HOME OF BECKMAN COULTER VP
received anonymously:
"During the early hours of August 5th,
we visited Allison Blackwell, Senior Vice President of Beckman Coulter
at her lovely home in Yorba Linda (5715 Via Del Potrero, Yorba Linda,
CA). Her and Beckman Coulter have been supplying HLS with the lab
equipment used to test on animals for years. For this reason, her
driveway, front door, porch and garage door were redecorated in red
spray paint. The slogans 'DROP HLS' and 'PUPPY KILLER' was painted
across her garage door. Red stain was thrown into her pool in the
backyard turning the water and walls of the pool blood red, to remind
her of the blood on her hands.
Allison, you know what to do to
bring this to an end. Cut your losses and drop HLS. Until then expect to
spend thousands more on damages because this is not a one time event.
As it reads across your drive way in red spray paint 'THIS IS ONLY
THE BEGINNING'
ALF"
[Press Office note: Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) has been exposed
in seven consecutive undercover investigations demonstrating lab
technicians simulating sex with animals, punching beagle puppies and
violating numerous animal welfare regulations. The company kills 500
dogs and other animals every day testing such products as oven cleaners,
pesticides and pharmaceuticals. Before losing their NYSE listing several
years ago, HLS lost their listing on the London Stock Exchange after UK
campaigners exposed atrocities occurring inside HLS facilities; the
company currently teeters on the brink of bankruptcy. More information
on the campaign to stop the atrocities at HLS, including additional
targets worldwide, is available at
www.shac.net
The Animal Liberation Front(ALF) utilizes
economic sabotage in addition to the direct liberation of animals from
conditions of abuse and imprisonment to halt needless animal suffering.
By making it more expensive to trade in the lives of innocent, sentient
beings, the ALF maintain the atrocities against our brothers and sisters
are likely to occur in smaller numbers; their goal is to abolish the
exploitation, imprisonment, torture and killing of innocent, non-human
animals.]

ALF RAID FOX
FARM
received anonymously:
"On the night of August 5, the Animal Liberation Front
visited the only known fur farm in the state of Virginia, Scott
Dean's D&S Fox Farm in Elkton. We opened every one of the few cages
at D&S, giving thirteen beautiful foxes a chance at new lives in the
nearby Shenandoah National Park. As we watched a few of them
immediately scurry off to freedom, we damaged the machinery that
allows Dean to continue his day-to-day operation confining and
torturing these sensitive creatures. Dean, it appears that this is a
hobby providing you only supplementary income - it is our commitment
to free your prisoners and cost you more than you make until you
shut down. To those nationwide who also seek justice for the
innocent, your nearest fur farm is at most a state away. Take action
for animals.

JORDAN HALLIDAY RELEASED!
Jordan Halliday Jordan was released
from prison in July 2012!
In January 2012, animal rights activist Jordan Halliday
began a 10-month prison sentence for criminal contempt of court.
In 2009, Jordan was found in contempt of court for
refusing to testify before a federal grand jury investigating fur farm
raids in Utah. After more than 3 months behind bars, he was released but
was then charged with criminal contempt. "It is believed to be the first
time in two decades, and only the third time in U.S. history, that
someone has been imprisoned for criminal contempt of court after already
serving prison time for civil contempt" (greenisthenewred.com).

FOUR HENS LIBERATED FROM EGG FARM
received anonymously:
"During the second week of May 2012, two activists
entered an egg farm located in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. 4 hens
were removed from the premises and placed in good homes where they will
live out the rest of their natural lives. This is the same farm where 6
hens were liberated
last January.
This action was done to save these individual animals
from the torture and misery intrinsic to industrialized egg production,
as well as to demonstrate that although we may not be able to free every
animal, we can free some. This was done in full solidarity with the
anarchists and animal liberationists facing state repression here on the
west coast and abroad.
Freeing the prisoners. ALF
**We are intentionally omitting the name, address, and
specifics of the farm targeted. The relatively small number of animals
taken will most likely, once again, go unnoticed by the farmer and will
hopefully allow us to take advantage of the non-existent security on
this farm for future raids and investigations."

HUNT SABOTAGE

received anonymously:
"Early this morning in the USA, three anti-hunters
toppled a hunting blind, three tree-stands, and smashed a trail camera.
As we approached the hunting complex, we stayed in the
brush and peered into the hunting blind with binoculars to make sure the
field was empty. Once we were sure that no one was in the area, we
sprang into action and went after the deer killing blind.
The hunting blind had its supports silently cut with a
saw, and was then pushed over into the field. The impact from the 20
foot fall tore the actual hunting blind from the tree stand, undoing all
the hours it took the killers to construct the stand in about 10
minutes. After the hunting stand was taken care of, we went after the
three steel tree stands that were further back in the field. The support
straps on these three stands were cut, and the tree stands were then
dismantled and disposed of. Upon leaving the field we saw a trail camera
strapped onto a piece of wood, which was also destroyed.
We saved some wildlife from being maimed and killed by
gun wielding sadists with our actions, but hunting is an extremely
widespread, environmentally degrading and disgusting practice that needs
to be stopped as much as possible, by anyone who has the opportunity to
do so.

DOZENS OF
PHEASANTS FREED BY THE ALF
reported anonymously:
"Last night, the night of March 14th, we infiltrated the
property Queener Ridge Pheasant Company (40485 Queener Drive, Scio, OR)
which breeds ringneck pheasants primarily to be murdered in commercial
canned hunts. After jumping a barbed wire fence, we made our way to the
main breeding facility where we dismantled a huge section of an aviary
that held between 75-150 pheasants; liberating them into the night sky.
Although the number of animals freed represented only a tiny fraction of
the thousands more still held captive on this farm, we feel that every
life saved--no matter how few--is a victory.
Ringneck pheasants are a naturalized species to this
region and are specifically bred to retain their wild characteristics
and instincts, so we have no doubt that these animals can survive in the
wild upon release. Otherwise doomed to a life of confinement and
brutality these sentient animals now have a fighting chance at survival.
For an industry whose only purpose is the infliction of
violence against sentient animals for entertainment and pleasure, the
only ethical choice we can make is to set your animals free.
Against all domination, --Animal Liberation Front"
Pheasants used in so-called Sport-shoots are raised in intensive
confinement; the crowded, unnatural conditions within the pens lead to
aggression, counteracted by a variety of mutilations and physical
restraints, the most common of which is 'debeaking'. If the birds aren't
killed outright during the shoots, their necks are wrung. Many are
simply left to bleed to death.
Theo Hopkins wrote to the Daily
Telegraph: "I recently saw a pheasant shot and wounded 40 yards
above the ground. The 2lb bird, flapping and shedding feathers, hit the
ground with an audible thump. It couldn't fly, but tried to run. A dog
grabbed it by the wing and dragged it across the field and through a
dense hedge. The bird and wing parted company. The dog looked
momentarily confused, but then thankfully grabbed the body. The bird
continued to flap around at the Gun's feet awhile, while he waited for
his next shot. Eventually he picked up the bird by the feet and
repeatedly swung its head against a fence post."

14 CATTLE
TRUCKS GO UP IN FLAMES
anonymous claim of responsibility:
"at about 3:40 am on sunday, january 8th, 14 cattle
trucks caught fire at the harris feeding company in coalinga, ca.
containers of accelerant were placed beneath a row of 14 trucks with 4
digital timers used to light 4 of the containers and kerosene-soaked
rope carrying the fire to the other 10 (a tactic adapted from Home Alone
2 [if you're going to try this make sure to use kerosene, gasoline dries
too quickly]). we weren't sure how well this was going to work, so we
waited until there was news reports before writing this. we were
extremely pleased to see that all 14 trucks 'were a total loss' with
some being 'completely melted to the ground.'
we're not going to use this space to expound upon the
horrors and injustices of factory farming. there is more than enough
armchair-activists and those of passive politics who are more than
willing to do that (anything to keep from getting their hands dirty).
we, the unsilent minority (the 1%, if you will), choose a more direct
form of action.
we're not delusional enough to believe that this action
will shut down the harris feeding company, let alone have any effect on
factory farming as a whole. but we maintain that this type of action
still has worth, if not solely for the participant's peace of mind, then
to show that despite guards, a constant worker presence, and razorwire
fence, the enemy is still vulnerable.
finally, to all those who fantasize and romanticize
about direct action yet remain on the fence: there is a lot of stuff
that needs to be destroyed and we can't count on spontaneous combustion
and careless welders to do all the work.
until next time..."
[Press Office note: Harris Ranch Beef Company is California's largest
fed cattle "processor" producing nearly 200 million pounds of beef a
year. The largest cattle feeder on the West Coast and 14th largest
nationally encompasses a 100,000-head feed lot. At any given time there
will normally be between 70-100,000 head of cattle on feed. Harris
Feeding Company feeds about 1/3 of all the cows murdered in California.
Cows spend the last days of their short, brutal lives standing in their
own waste, until hauled off to have their throats slit and their bodies
sliced into small pieces for human consumption. Video of the "feed lot"
