December 17, 2012 - ACTION AGAINST VIVISECTION

anonymous report (translation):

"We have struck a university faculty in Rome, where animals are held prisoner for vivisection: rodents and fish. Our intention was to free the greatest possible number of mice. We conducted two visits during the day, pretending to be students. We could see the prisoners in small fish tanks and cages crowded with rodents.

The night of the action, however, we found the animal rooms closed and protected by an alarm connected to a private security agency. We decided to leave a reminder of our presence. We entered the administrative secretary of the faculty, where we smeared with paint and graffiti against vivisection/vivisectors on their beautiful white wall. Same treatment for the exterior walls of the building and the message boards for professors and students, with special dedications to the latter, who are preparing their lurid career as animal torturers and poisoners of humanity. In the days before we had asked them a few questions about their academic work and they told us with no moral qualms about experiments on rodents, rabbits, and in one case even monkeys (primates are held prisoner at the Institute of Health).

Now their white walls are smeared with the black of shame and the red of blood: a small warning to remind them that no animal abuse will remain unpunished.

November 24, 2012 - MOUSE TRAPS DESTROYED

reported by Informa-Azione (translation):

"ROME. One hundred poisonous traps for mice were destroyed, sabotaged or made harmless. These baits are contained in square or inverted T-shaped boxes affixed to the walls of buildings and are also dangerous for cats, dogs and birds. We also wrote on the walls of Zucchet, a company that produces these instruments of death. Such actions are simple and affordable for everyone; get out of the house and fight for animal liberation!"

November 15, 2012 - TWO HUTS USED BY HUNTERS TORCHED

reported anonymously:

"We have seen the new Federfauna [European Federation of Farmers, Merchants and Pet Owners] initiative
To give a Hitler award to animal rights; we wanted to answer that:

Taking advantage of the rain that prevents the woods from burning, on Halloween night we set fire to two wooden huts used for hunting in Casnate con Bernate (Co). We also smashed the cages that trap the birds who with their songs recall the victims of hunters.
To see these places of extermination become a pyre and then a pile of ashes was a great pleasure.
Thinking of the surprise that awaits the cowards who can not for some time kill defenseless birds, being easily hidden in their huts, is an even greater pleasure.
As soon as we can, wherever we are, forever strike!

October 20, 2012 - BROKEN WINDOWS, GRAFFITI AT FIVE MCDONALD'S

anonymous report, from Informa-Azione (translation):

"Against the exploitation of humans, animals and the earth.

In the night between Thursday the 18th and Friday, October 19th, several McDonald's in Turin were attacked; various damage was done to the buildings (mainly windows smashed), locks sealed with liquid steel, and 'MURDERERS' 'SELLERS OF DEATH' 'MEAT = DEATH' painted in red and black.
This action is a response to the exploitation of animals but also to that of humans and the planet we live on.
McDonald's is present throughout the world serving millions 'fast food' that they want to pass as food, profiting off lies, exploitation of workers, and the exploitation and death of millions of individual animals, animals used as machines for the production of money.

October 2, 2012 - THREE PIGLETS LIBERATED

reported by Coordinamento Contro il Mega Macello:

"We anonimously receive this footage, filmed inside of some farms in
Lombardy (Italy), with a surprise ending: the liberation of three young
pigs. This video has been delievered to us in support of the campaign
against the building of Europe's biggest pig slaughterhouse (Campagna
Contro il Mega Macello).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VssHSNQtaLQ

Scenes filmed expose daily situations in food-producing animal farms.
This is normality, it's no limit case. Living beings are considered as
goods, objects, whose flesh, as meat, will feed the animal exploiting
food industry.
Farms are places of torture and suffering; they are like modern
concentration camps where life is trodden on by the greed of a system,
which goes from the farmer to the customer, that annihilates the
existence of sentient beings, to reduce them to resources or goods to be
consumed.

The first step to save lives is to eliminate any animal origin products
from our daily habits, adopting a vegan lifestyle. A further way to set
these slaves free is direct action.
Watching the pictures of this liberation fills our hearts with joy,
because these three individuals won't be deported to the slaughterhouse,
won't be murdered and won't become food. They will be free pigs, free to
roll in the mud in the hottest hours of the day, free to lay down and
rest on a straw bed, free to develope a personality of their own and
free to follow their instinct.

This video is dedicated to the dutch activists 'Barchem4', victims of
repression. In these months they are facing a hard trial, charged of the
liberation of 5,000 minks from a farm not far from the town of Barchem.
We also want to dedicate it to all those who support direct action and
the struggle for animal liberation.

Against any type of exploitation, domination and discrimination.
Against speciesism.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VssHSNQtaLQ

September 22, 2012 - SLAUGHTERHOUSE TARGETED

reported by Informa-Azione (translation):

"09/18/2012. Before dawn we entered the slaughterhouse in Sora (FR) to commit a small amount of sabotage. The outer walls were decorated with slogans and insults of all kinds. Since this is the main street of the town we found that as early as the afternoon the messages had been covered up. But from across the street a message was still visible, 'CLEAN WALLS SILENT PEOPLE' and at the site of a private security institution, 'INFAMOUS UNIFORMS' and 'SHIT'.

September 12, 2012 - 12 RABBITS FREED FROM INTENSIVE FARM

Open rescue by essereAnimali (click here for photos from the rescue):

"In the beginning of May, animal activists of essereAnimali freed 12
rabbits bred for the meat industry; they also documented the
distress of their daily imprisonment.
What is happening daily inside the rabbit meat factories is a tragedy of
which only few know about.

Rabbits are naturally shy and timid animals, really sensitive to
noise, stress and human presence. Their destiny within the factories is
such and much more: thousands are forced into endless lines of cages,
crammed one on top of the other, with no chance to move and jump around.

Small objects to fatten up, forced for two or three months of suffering
and slaughtered afterwards. For farmers, rabbit babies do not have any
other value but the 1,60 they earn from selling their meat. Just few
coins draw the line between life and death. Despite the little value
that the food industry confer to the single individual, rabbit
farming is a high profit activity.
The big animal farms, such as the ones we visited, cage several
thousand animals and send to slaughter as many as six production
cycles a year. The female rabbits are constantly made pregnant,
artificially inseminated and forced to give birth several times before
their reproductive performance decreases. When rabbits are not
productive anymore, they are killed.

Such an industrial system gives attention only to the thousands of animals
and the automated management of as many animals as possible. None or
little attention is given to the single individual.

An example of this system can be found in the last shots of this video.
Some of the rabbits somehow escaped from the cages and manage to survive
within the warehouse, feeding themselves on the fodder dropped from the
automated feeding system or on the faeces of the other encaged rabbits
and also digging in the piles of excrement underneath the cages. For
farmers, they are not even worth the effort of seizing and re-caging them
again. They are just minimum and calculated losses, condemned to
sickness, infections or privation.

Our work is focused on documenting what is happening within the walls of
the farm factories, to give a voice to the suffering of these animals,
showing as much as possible their point of view. This is not easy
because the reality of these camps is always beyond our imagination,
and to understand what it really means to be born and live in a cage is
perhaps impossible. Always, the most difficult task in such
investigation is getting out from such places and closing the door behind.
To know that for those inside tomorrow will be another day of terror and
distress.

This time we decided to open their cages and to bring with us twelve of
them. As in the majority of these animal farms, getting in is as easy
as turning the door handle. Taking some lucky ones from the thousands of
cages and bringing them out to discover for the first time the air, the
sky and the earth is also that easy.

Less simple is finding a home for these fragile animals and to secure them a
happy life because they are unable to survive without daily attention and
care. These rabbits are selected for meat production: this means that for
generation after generation they have basically lived without freedom of
movement and are used to industrial fodder.
These small animals are biologically unadapted to life because they have
been designed for death. As a consequence, they often have congenital
muscle defects and underdeveloped skeletons or bodies. They almost
cannot jump out of their cages. Because of the fodder, their digestive
system is unadapted to digest grass, vegetables and the food they are
naturally supposed to eat. Luckily, somebody will take care of them,
leading them hand to forepaw, toward a free life.

Once again, the most difficult thing was to get out of that door with
only twelve of them and thousands left behind.
Individuals condemned to a miserable life and suffering, for those whom
apparently we can do nothing about.
Even though we cannot free all of them, we can always choose to become
vegan and spread a message of respect for other animal species."

May 22, 2012 - 12 CHICKENS FREED

anonymous report (translation):

"On the night of May 14, 2012 in the Province of Como we gave freedom to 12 hens.
They were at the house of a farmer who often sells them at a Chinese restaurant in the vicinity.
It was not easy this time to free them because after the many times we've come to take animals, we found the chicken coop absolutely impenetrable.
But in the end with our tenacity and desire to wrest from their tormentors these beings, we broke through the metal sheets, made a small opening and in we went.
Now the chickens are free and will not end up on a plate.

May 13, 2012 - 50 CHICKENS LIBERATED

anonymous report (rough translation):

"On the night of May 5, 2012, at a time when all eyes were focused on the fate of the dogs locked up in the Green Hill concentration camp in Montichiari (Brescia), Italy, we entered a chicken farm in Mariano Comense (Como) and gave freedom to more than 50 individuals.
These animals have a family waiting for them to ensure free and peaceful lives until their natural death.
With this action we also want to emphasize the enormous suffering and slaughter of millions of animals destined to die to satisfy the palate of the human oppressor and we hope that all those who in one way or another took part in the fight against Green Hill, and not only vegans, but simply 'dog lovers', understand that all animals should live free and that no one should claim the right to lock up another living being in a cage or shed and exploit his body or his work.
We want, with this action, to show our solidarity with those who on April 28, 2012 gave freedom to the prisoners who escaped from the camp and in particular to the Green Hill 12 who were arrested as a result of this open action that will be remembered in the history of animal liberation.
We are always close to those imprisoned for acts of liberation of animals, humans and the earth.
All the animals released through direct action have been lucky and will not have to wait pending the decision of the Italian Senate... and a change in the many laws that allow animal slavery. It remains our duty to continue to give freedom and a full life to as many individuals as possible.

April 29, 2012 - OPEN RESCUE OF 10 HENS

reported by Nemesi Animale (click here for photos from the rescue):

"10 hens have been liberated from a factory farm with enriched cages and now live free in a wonderful place somewhere in the north of Italy.

This action is to show that there has been no end to animal suffering with the ban on old style battery cages in Europe, the hens still live in cages with a few inches more of space. The only thing they are looking for is freedom, and it's up to all of us to give freedom to animals, becoming vegan, becoming activists and also opening cages ourselves."

April 6, 2012 - HENS FREED FROM FACTORY FARM

reported by essereAnimali:

"February 2012
'essereAnimali' freed two HENS from a factory farm.

A truly warm greeting to all the people that every day feel inside their hearts the respect for all animals and the earth we live in, to all the activists that all around the world fight for animal liberation and to the people that with love and patience care for the few rescued animals in the animal sanctuaries or shelters.

We are writing on behalf of 'essereAnimali', an animal activist group active in Italy that organise initiative for the diffusion of a VEGAN life style. We want to highlight an investigation that kept us busy in last months, we have called it 'EGGS FACTORY'. It provides an overall view of the animal exploitation to which laying hens are forced.

Investigation-> www.vimeo.com/37624687

This small contribution of ours wants to be supportive of all the animals and this is why the pictures, videos and information we collected come from all the typology of factory farms, also of the factories called 'organic' that mislead the consumers evoking a false concept of animal welfare, welfare that is not possible within any kind of animal factory.

'EGGS FACTORY' wishes to spread the message that every animal wants to be free and that if we truly love them the only choice we can make is a vegan life style.

Now this investigation can be publicly viewed on our website, we had previously organised a informative action in Bologna to spread the information and we will shortly start to present the investigation results in cultural clubs, libraries, community centres and squatting communities.

We hope the information we provide will make people reflect and reconsider the treatment we subject animals within our society.

It is somehow normal that, facing that huge tragedy of animal exploitation, people sometimes feel low in morale and start to think that fighting these atrocities, believed as normal by the majority, is too difficult or impossible.
But we cannot be discouraged for too long, we must learn how to give the right value also to the small and good things we do.

Every time we went into the factories to collect the material for our investigation, we found animals that were scared, wounded or dead.

Although we were aware that we cannot free all of them, we decided to take two of those hens, an action that is obviously only symbolic of the number of the living beings that every day are consumed by the food industry, but that for those two single hens has surely meant much.

We took them from a factory farm and we brought them to a homely environment, where they have come to know grass, sun and freedom for the first time and where they will be treated as individuals.
They are the living testimonials of the future change we all have to fight for.

To all their sisters still shut in, we dedicate this liberation.

Investigazione--> www.vimeo.com/37624687

March 27, 2012 - ABUSED PUPPY RESCUED

anonymous report (translation):

"During the night of March 18, 2012, we entered the garden of a house in Venegono (Varese) by cutting the fence to give freedom to a puppy, a sweet girl kept chained and abused by a violent individual who surely would have made this poor creature live in a constant state of suffering and terror.
A simple and quick action that has given this puppy the chance to be adopted by a responsible family that can give her the attention and love she deserves.

March 25, 2012 - SPORT FISHING SABOTAGE

received anonymously (translation):

"Italy

During the night of March 10, 2012, armed with hammers, red paint and anger, we arrived at a small lake equipped for fishing in the forest between Velmaio and Cantello in the province of Varese.
Within minutes we broke up as much as possible within the structures where the men spend their days in blood.
We threw chairs and tables into the icy water and left a written message making it clear what we think of fishing and fishermen.
Killing for sport is unacceptable whether it is done with a rifle targeting birds and mammals, or whether a horrific death by suffocation is caused by a hook and fishing line.
Fish do not create in most human beings the same empathy as other animals, but even if fish cannot scream in pain, their ability to suffer has been shown to be the same as other animals.
With these acts of sabotage, in addition to creating a nuisance for fishermen, we want as many people as possible to become aware of the silent slaughter of fish, bred for the sole purpose of entertaining uncaring people who are the fishermen, murderers no less than their friends the hunters.

"Italy

March 12, 2012 - CHICKENS RESCUED, RESEARCH FARM DESTROYED (DELAYED REPORT)

Ozzano Emilia

Ozzano Emilia

translation of anonymous statement published in Terra Selvaggia (photos: Corriere di Bologna):

"During the night of July 20-21 at the Faculty of Agriculture farm in Ozzano Emilia (Bologna) we lit up the nights of a cold summer.
Inside thirty chickens were waiting to be killed in the name of science and profit: indeed we found corpses in a freezer inside the structure.
Journalists, spoon fed by the authorities, have written that the chickens burned alive in the fire. Each of these individuals were carried out before the flames destroyed the building. What warms our hearts is the knowledge that the farm was due to open in September but is still closed and will be for a long time. No animal will be locked in there where now debris and desolation dwell.
We claim responsibility for this action; we must attack places of torture and exploitation by whatever means possible. Answer the violence of power with the destruction of places where it is carried out. Each of us can do it, you just need to organize and use all your imagination and determination and not be fooled by the supposed sanctity of physical spaces where torture hides. The walls fall in, the rooves cave in, the fire washes away the suffering inside.
We were reminded during that week that three courageous individuals stood trial for transportation and possession of explosive material, and were suspected of planning an attack on the IBM bio-nanotechnology research center in Zurich. Solidarity and support to them and to all the warriors held hostage by the State.
To all those who still resist and who still attack."

A chi ancora resiste, a chi ancora attacca."

February 13, 2012 - CIRCUS ATTACKED

The ALF has claimed responsibility for an attack on the Orfei-Errani circus in Latina during the night of February 8-9. Several billboards advertising the circus were damaged, and a truck and ticket office belonging to the circus were vandalized.

The activists wrote, "We hope to have caused as much economic damage as possible to the exploiters. This is a declaration of war, you're under fire, everywhere you go you will find one of our cells ready to strike. For you there will be no peace until ALL the cages are open and each individual can live free and wild in its natural habitat."

Full claim of responsibility (Italian):
Sfruttatore avvisato, mezzo salvato!

January 27, 2012 - VANDALISM AT SPORT FISHING CENTER

translation of anonymous report (photo: laprovinciadicomo.it):

"On New Year's Eve 2012 we wanted to celebrate in our own way, by breaking windows and throwing paint on the external walls and inside a sport fishing center at a lake in Casnate con Bernate (Como).
With the action we wanted to highlight how fish like other animals are sentient beings and that humans should not breed them for their own amusement or for food.
Fishermen are the same as hunters; they are murderers and will be treated as such."

According to a story in La Provincia newspaper, damage was estimated at 10,000 Euros.

January 20, 2012 - FENCING CUT, CAGES OPENED, MINK RUN FREE

January 4, 2012 - Italy HUNTERS CARS VANDALIZED

anonymous report:

"At the dawn of a morning of December we were stationed in front of a bar known to be frequented by hunters, on the outskirts of Rome. We saw them arrive, drink coffee, joking with each other. Then we decided to follow some, at a safe distance, in the countryside where they hunt. We expect they to forward in the woods and we decided to have fun a little: we have broken to sling blows the glasses of three their cars, and in all tranquility we are returned to home.
