"We have struck a university faculty in Rome, where animals are held prisoner for vivisection: rodents and fish. Our intention was to free the greatest possible number of mice. We conducted two visits during the day, pretending to be students. We could see the prisoners in small fish tanks and cages crowded with rodents.

The night of the action, however, we found the animal rooms closed and protected by an alarm connected to a private security agency. We decided to leave a reminder of our presence. We entered the administrative secretary of the faculty, where we smeared with paint and graffiti against vivisection/vivisectors on their beautiful white wall. Same treatment for the exterior walls of the building and the message boards for professors and students, with special dedications to the latter, who are preparing their lurid career as animal torturers and poisoners of humanity. In the days before we had asked them a few questions about their academic work and they told us with no moral qualms about experiments on rodents, rabbits, and in one case even monkeys (primates are held prisoner at the Institute of Health).

Now their white walls are smeared with the black of shame and the red of blood: a small warning to remind them that no animal abuse will remain unpunished.

Stesso trattamento riservato ai muri esterni dell'edificio ed alle bacheche di professori e studenti. Dediche particolari a questi ultimi, che stanno preparando la loro
lurida carriera di torturatori di animali ed avvelenatori dell'umanit�. Nei giorni precedenti avevamo rivolto loro qualche domanda circa il loro lavoro universitario e ci hanno raccontato senza alcuna remora morale gli esperimenti su roditori, conigli e in un caso anche scimmie (i primati sono tenuti prigionieri nella sede dell'Istituto Superiore di Sanit�).

Adesso i loro candidi muri sono stati imbrattati con il nero della vergogna e il rosso del sangue: un piccolo monito per ricordare loro che nessun abuso sugli animali rester� impunito.

Scenes filmed expose daily situations in food-producing animal farms.
This is normality, it's no limit case. Living beings are considered as
goods, objects, whose flesh, as meat, will feed the animal exploiting
food industry.
Farms are places of torture and suffering; they are like modern
concentration camps where life is trodden on by the greed of a system,
which goes from the farmer to the customer, that annihilates the
existence of sentient beings, to reduce them to resources or goods to be
consumed.

The first step to save lives is to eliminate any animal origin products
from our daily habits, adopting a vegan lifestyle. A further way to set
these slaves free is direct action.
Watching the pictures of this liberation fills our hearts with joy,
because these three individuals won't be deported to the slaughterhouse,
won't be murdered and won't become food. They will be free pigs, free to
roll in the mud in the hottest hours of the day, free to lay down and
rest on a straw bed, free to develope a personality of their own and
free to follow their instinct.

This video is dedicated to the dutch activists 'Barchem4', victims of
repression. In these months they are facing a hard trial, charged of the
liberation of 5,000 minks from a farm not far from the town of Barchem.

"In the beginning of May, animal activists of essereAnimali freed 12
rabbits bred for the meat industry; they also documented the
distress of their daily imprisonment.
What is happening daily inside the rabbit meat factories is a tragedy of
which only few know about.

Rabbits are naturally shy and timid animals, really sensitive to
noise, stress and human presence. Their destiny within the factories is
such and much more: thousands are forced into endless lines of cages,
crammed one on top of the other, with no chance to move and jump around.

Small objects to fatten up, forced for two or three months of suffering
and slaughtered afterwards. For farmers, rabbit babies do not have any
other value but the 1,60� they earn from selling their meat. Just few
coins draw the line between life and death. Despite the little value
that the food industry confer to the single individual, rabbit
farming is a high profit activity.
The big animal farms, such as the ones we visited, cage several
thousand animals and send to slaughter as many as six production
cycles a year. The female rabbits are constantly made pregnant,
artificially inseminated and forced to give birth several times before
their reproductive performance decreases. When rabbits are not
productive anymore, they are killed.

Such an industrial system gives attention only to the thousands of animals
and the automated management of as many animals as possible. None or
little attention is given to the single individual.

An example of this system can be found in the last shots of this video.
Some of the rabbits somehow escaped from the cages and manage to survive
within the warehouse, feeding themselves on the fodder dropped from the
automated feeding system or on the faeces of the other encaged rabbits
and also digging in the piles of excrement underneath the cages. For
farmers, they are not even worth the effort of seizing and re-caging them
again. They are just minimum and calculated losses, condemned to
sickness, infections or privation.

Our work is focused on documenting what is happening within the walls of
the farm factories, to give a voice to the suffering of these animals,
showing as much as possible their point of view. This is not easy
because the reality of these camps is always beyond our imagination,
and to understand what it really means to be born and live in a cage is
perhaps impossible. Always, the most difficult task in such
investigation is getting out from such places and closing the door behind.
To know that for those inside tomorrow will be another day of terror and
distress.

This time we decided to open their cages and to bring with us twelve of
them. As in the majority of these animal farms, getting in is as easy
as turning the door handle. Taking some lucky ones from the thousands of
cages and bringing them out to discover for the first time the air, the
sky and the earth is also that easy.

Less simple is finding a home for these fragile animals and to secure them a
happy life because they are unable to survive without daily attention and
care. These rabbits are selected for meat production: this means that for
generation after generation they have basically lived without freedom of
movement and are used to industrial fodder.
These small animals are biologically unadapted to life because they have
been designed for death. As a consequence, they often have congenital
muscle defects and underdeveloped skeletons or bodies. They almost
cannot jump out of their cages. Because of the fodder, their digestive
system is unadapted to digest grass, vegetables and the food they are
naturally supposed to eat. Luckily, somebody will take care of them,
leading them hand to forepaw, toward a free life.

Once again, the most difficult thing was to get out of that door with
only twelve of them and thousands left behind.
Individuals condemned to a miserable life and suffering, for those whom
apparently we can do nothing about.
Even though we cannot free all of them, we can always choose to become
vegan and spread a message of respect for other animal species."

According to a local newspaper, during the night of August 2 the Pellicceria Iva fur store in the town of Riva del Garda was hit with paint bombs and "ALF" was painted on the storefront. Butcher shops and a milk vending machine were also hit. (photos: l'Adige.it)

Anonymous activists have again targeted the vivisection industry, according to a report on Informa-Azione. The website of a pro-animal research scientific association was defaced.

The websites of Ricc� Alete, a supplier of laboratory equipment to Green Hill, and SD Pellicceria, a fur store with locations in Seriate and Milan, have been defaced by Anonymous activists (reported on Informa-Azione).

On Saturday, April 28, during a large demonstration outside Green Hill, a huge facility in northern Italy that supplies beagles to laboratories across Europe, protesters climbed over a fence, entered the kennels and carried away approx. 30 beagles. The overwhelmed police managed to arrest 12 activists (the activists were released after two nights in jail). Green Hill is owned by US-based Marshall BioResources.

"10 hens have been liberated from a factory farm with enriched cages and now live free in a wonderful place somewhere in the north of Italy.

This action is to show that there has been no end to animal suffering with the ban on old style battery cages in Europe, the hens still live in cages with a few inches more of space. The only thing they are looking for is freedom, and it's up to all of us to give freedom to animals, becoming vegan, becoming activists and also opening cages ourselves."

'essereAnimali' freed two HENS from a factory farm.

A truly warm greeting to all the people that every day feel inside their hearts the respect for all animals and the earth we live in, to all the activists that all around the world fight for animal liberation and to the people that with love and patience care for the few rescued animals in the animal sanctuaries or shelters.

We are writing on behalf of 'essereAnimali', an animal activist group active in Italy that organise initiative for the diffusion of a VEGAN life style. We want to highlight an investigation that kept us busy in last months, we have called it 'EGGS FACTORY'. It provides an overall view of the animal exploitation to which laying hens are forced.

This small contribution of ours wants to be supportive of all the animals and this is why the pictures, videos and information we collected come from all the typology of factory farms, also of the factories called 'organic' that mislead the consumers evoking a false concept of animal welfare, welfare that is not possible within any kind of animal factory.

'EGGS FACTORY' wishes to spread the message that every animal wants to be free and that if we truly love them the only choice we can make is a vegan life style.

Now this investigation can be publicly viewed on our website, we had previously organised a informative action in Bologna to spread the information and we will shortly start to present the investigation results in cultural clubs, libraries, community centres and squatting communities.

We hope the information we provide will make people reflect and reconsider the treatment we subject animals within our society.

It is somehow normal that, facing that huge tragedy of animal exploitation, people sometimes feel low in morale and start to think that fighting these atrocities, believed as normal by the majority, is too difficult or impossible.
But we cannot be discouraged for too long, we must learn how to give the right value also to the small and good things we do.

Every time we went into the factories to collect the material for our investigation, we found animals that were scared, wounded or dead.

Although we were aware that we cannot free all of them, we decided to take two of those hens, an action that is obviously only symbolic of the number of the living beings that every day are consumed by the food industry, but that for those two single hens has surely meant much.

We took them from a factory farm and we brought them to a homely environment, where they have come to know grass, sun and freedom for the first time and where they will be treated as individuals.
They are the living testimonials of the future change we all have to fight for.

To all their sisters still shut in, we dedicate this liberation.

Ma non dobbiamo farci scoraggiare troppo, e saper trarre la giusta motivazione anche dalle piccole cose buone.

Tutte le volte che siamo entrati dentro ai capannoni per ottenere materiale per la nostra investigazione abbiamo trovato animali impauriti, feriti o morti.
Anche se siamo consapevoli che non possiamo liberarli tutti abbiamo comunque deciso di portare via da quell'inferno due galline, un'azione certamente solo simbolica a confronto del numero di esseri viventi che tutti i giorni sono consumati dall'industria alimentare, ma un'azione che per quelle due singole galline vuole dire sicuramente moltissimo.

Le abbiamo prese da un allevamento intensivo e le abbiamo portate in un luogo accogliente, dove hanno conosciuto l'erba, il sole e la libert� per la prima volta e dove saranno trattate come individui. Sono le testimoni viventi di un cambiamento futuro per cui ci dobbiamo impegnare tutti.

A tutte le loro sorelle ancora rinchiuse dedichiamo questa liberazione.

On January 17, approximately 1,500 mink were freed from cages at the Antoniazzi mink farm in San Cataldo di Borgoforte. According to media reports, one hundred meters of wire fencing was cut and all the cages inside seven sheds at the farm were opened.
