Animal Rights Activists Dress as Santa Claus During a Demonstration in Melbourne
AUSTRALIA: December 1, 2005

Animal Liberation Victoria members dressed as Santa Claus protest at the central business district in Melbourne November 30, 2005.
The members demanded a halt to the practice of 'mulesing' in which Australian farmers slice off lambs backsides without any painkillers in an inexpensive effort to reduce flystrike, a condition where maggots hatch and burrow into the skin.
The group called for a ban on live sheep exports where they say tens of thousands of the animals die during long sea voyages.
