ANIMAL welfare activists will protest outside MasterChef judge George
Calombaris' flagship restaurant in Melbourne tomorrow night in an effort
to stop him promoting factory farmed rabbits.
Protesters from the
Freedom for Farmed Rabbits group say the celebrity chef's promotion of
rabbit meat on the hit TV show MasterChef and his award-winning
restaurants has seen a rise in factory farming of the animals.
They are calling on Calombaris to make a "compassionate decision" to
"stop endorsing and promoting this unfathomable cruelty". They say
farmers have attributed Calombaris' promotion of rabbit with an "increase
in sales and the ability to expand their sheds".
